Why Get a Massage?
Touch is fundamental to our physical and mental well-being. From the soothing touches of a mother on her baby's back to the healing massages that hospital nurses were known to do, touch brings a sense of caring and inspires trust. Touch is a natural and instinctive means of promoting relaxation and restoration to a sense of well-being. The touch of a massage therapist combines both science and art in a caring and trusting environment.
The therapeutic effects of a structured massage can bring about healing and deep relaxation. Massage therapy can relieve pain, reduce swelling caused by inflammation, enhance mobility of joints, and helps to alleviate emotional and mental tension. Evangeline has made a special effort to provide an appropriately relaxing physical environment that encourages contentment and a feeling of comfort and solitude. Evangeline is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist providing treatment in Wakefield and to the surrounding communities.
Massages provided by A Touch of Solitude:
Hot Stone Therapy — Hot, soothing, smooth sea stones that work deep into your inner muscles during a Deep Tissue Massage or with a relaxing Swedish Massage.
Swedish Massage — A gentle, soft, soothing massage. This is the most popular form of massage, a traditional feel-good rubdown. Swedish massage employs long, soft strokes on the more delicate and bony parts of the body, which makes this type of massage very relaxing.
Deep Tissue Massage — Pressure varies from medium to very deep pass the layer of skin to work the muscle tension. Deep Tissue is a massage that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue to release tension in the body Stressed muscles; block oxygen and nutrients can lead to inflammation and retention of toxins. A deep-tissue massage works intensely on the muscles and connective tissue with the use of slow strokes and deep finger pressure. The pressure either follows or goes across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia, loosens toxins and gets blood oxygen flowing freely. After a deep-tissue massage, it is important to drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out of the system that were released during massage.
Range of Motion [R.O.M.] — Gentle stretching and manipulation of the joints. Range of Motion is stretching and manipulation of the joints to improve movements. Evangeline also uses Range Of Motion techniques to assess limitations of movements that may be caused by stress or scare tissue of previous injuries.
TMJ Release — Loosening of the jaw muscles to prevent jaw clinching and grinding.
Prenatal Massage — Massage for expecting mothers after their first trimester.
Reflexology — Applying pressure to the feet and hands increasing circulation and promoting specific bodily and muscular functions.
Corporate Massage — A brief bodywork session done in a specially designed massage chair or desk piece (desk piece is used for the handicapped, expectant mothers and over-weight clients). With the chair massage, you remain fully clothed and the session takes less time (and money) than a table massage. The scalp, neck, arms, back, and hips are available to be massaged. Sessions may last between five and thirty minutes.
Sports Massage — Vigorous warm up and stretch before and/or after a sports event.
Services that require two therapists:
Sychronized Massage — For the most relaxation in the least time, let two therapists synchronize their massage and ease you into the state of heavenly oblivion. Also known as (4) four-hand massage.
Couples Massage — Two massage therapist massaging separate clients in the same room (optional); start and finishes their massage approximately at the same time.
